CAPABILITY - Out-Hauls Every Other Truck in It’s Class!

Outstanding Towing Capability

Experience not only exceptional capability, but control and convenience when towing a boat or trailer. The F-150 offers an 11,300-lb. maximum trailer tow rating* — plus standard trailer sway control (TSC) and an available factory-integrated trailer brake controller (TBC). What’s more, the selectable tow/haul mode on the standard 6-speed automatic transmission compensates for altitude, grade and load to aid performance, especially when you’re driving up steep grades or down extreme slopes. You can choose the Trailer Tow Package or the optional Max Trailer Tow Package with a special group of heavy-duty towing upgrades.

Best-in-Class Payload

The F-150 continues its tradition of delivering the best-in-class maximum payload capability of 3,120 pounds.* And that’s not all. The available tailgate step and box side steps, both class-exclusive* features, provide easy access to all that payload.

AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™ (RSC®)

Corner too quickly or swerve to avoid an object and Roll Stability Control™ automatically employs its two gyroscopic sensors to measure vehicle roll and turning rates, then selectively applies individual brakes and modifies engine power to help keep all four wheels firmly planted. And it all happens instantaneously, faster than you can blink an eye.39

Trailer Sway Control

Trailer sway control (TSC) builds on the AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control(RSC®) system to help maintain trailer control through selective braking and adjusted engine power.39 The result is noticeable stability and control, which provides greater driver confidence when towing large loads.

Electronic-Locking Rear Differential

The electronic-locking rear differential, when engaged, locks the rear axle completely to provide enhanced traction at both rear wheels at the same time. The electronic-locking rear differential is fully integrated with the AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™ (RSC®) system to deliver excellent control when traveling on- or off-road. It’s standard on the FX4, SVT Raptor and Limited, included in the Off-Road Package, and available on all other 4x2 and 4x4 models.

Integrated Trailer Brake Controller (TBC)

The F-150 offers an available fully integrated trailer brake controller (TBC).* This first-in-class feature** synchronizes vehicle and trailer brakes for seamless braking (even with the heaviest loads) to provide added driving control and confidence.

Built Ford Tough® Frame

The extensive use of high-strength steel, high-performance components and computer-aided engineering goes into producing the rugged frame that’s the backbone of the Built Ford Tough® F-150. Collapsible front horns offer occupant protection by absorbing crash energy to help prevent intrusion into the cabin. The frame is fully boxed from front to rear with extensive use of high-strength steel. All crossmembers are fully boxed for lateral rigidity and to allow for frame flex. When the frame is more rigid, the suspension can perform better. Crossmembers go through the frame and are welded on both the outside and inside for a strong connection. The center crossmember contributes to outstanding towing and is lowered to allow for a flat load floor.

Outboard-Mounted Rear Shocks

Pickups are often called on to carry big loads under a variety of driving conditions. That’s why Ford engineers gave the F-150 a wide-track Hotchkiss-design rear suspension. The 2-stage, 64.5-inch leaf springs enhance lateral compliance, while the 3-inch width of the springs provides excellent cornering and control when towing. What’s more, the shocks are mounted outboard of the frame rails to reduce body lean and enhance cornering control.

POWER - The power you want. The efficiency you need.

Fuel-Efficient Technology

How does an engine balance the demands for fuel economy and performance? Advanced technology is a big part of the answer.

  • Twin independent variable cam timing (Ti-VCT) is standard in the 3.7L V6, 5.0L V8 and 3.5L EcoBoost® V6 engines. With its precise variable, yet independent, control over intake/exhaust valve timing, Ti-VCT helps make possible higher fuel economy numbers* as well as power ratings.
  • The innovative 3.5L EcoBoost V6 engine uses the precise fuel delivery of direct injection at each cylinder plus the high-performance capability of twin turbocharging.
  • The electronically controlled 6-speed automatic transmission, standard with all engines, has close-ratio gearing optimized for low-end performance and high-end efficiency.*
  • Electric power-assisted steering (EPAS) is standard with the 3.7L Ti-VCT V6, 5.0L Ti-VCT V8 and 3.5L EcoBoost V6 engines. EPAS helps improve fuel economy* because it eliminates the conventional hydraulic belt-driven gear system that draws power (and efficiency) from the engine.

3.5L EcoBoost® Engine

Ford engineers drew from their extensive experience using direct-injection technology and turbocharging in diesel engine development and created the innovative EcoBoost® engine option that delivers outstanding performance along with excellent fuel economy.*

Direct injection produces a cooler, denser charge that generates more power per every drop of fuel, while the two small air-to-air intercooled turbochargers spool up much more quickly than a single large turbo. What you experience is instantaneous low-end torque responsiveness. The EcoBoost puts out 365 horsepower and generates 90 percent of its amazing 420 lb.-ft. of torque from 1,700 to 5,000 rpm.

The F-150 with EcoBoost has a maximum towing capability of 11,300 lbs. (when properly equipped) plus a maximum 3,100 lbs. of payload. This innovative engine underwent over 1,900 hours of testing at full-boost conditions, as well as thermal shock testing to simulate 10 years of operation in the harshest environments. So EcoBoost is well up to any task — and then some.

3.7L Ti-VCT V6

The standard 3.7L V6 in the F-150 4x2 has impressive EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings* with 23 highway miles per gallon* -- plus responsive 302 horsepower and 278 lb.-ft. of torque. The 3.7L is E85 flex-fuel-capable, features dual overhead cams (DOHC) and four valves per cylinder, plus twin independent variable cam timing (Ti-VCT) technology. Ti-VCT allows for variable control of the intake and exhaust camshafts, optimizing combustion at full load to increase power and low-speed torque. It also enables variable valve overlap, which enhances fuel economy and improves cold-start operation with lower exhaust emissions.

5.0L Ti-VCT V8

The available 5.0L Ti-VCT V8 generates 360 horsepower and 380 lb.-ft. of torque, making possible a best-in-class maximum 3,120-lb. payload rating plus a maximum towing capability of 10,000 lbs. Surprisingly, this potent V8 flexes all this muscle with an EPA-estimated rating of 21 highway mpg (4x2).**

The 5.0L is engineered with twin independent variable cam timing (Ti-VCT) technology. Ti-VCT allows for variable control of the intake and exhaust camshafts, optimizing combustion at full load to increase power and low-speed torque. It also enables variable valve overlap, which improves cold-start operation with lower exhaust emissions.

Other notable features: a high-strength aluminum engine block, optimized camshafts and 10.5:1 compression ratio to help maximize low-speed torque, and a cylinder head designed to increase airflow. Along with its potent V8 power and flex-fuel capability, the 5.0L delivers proven Built Ford Tough® durability.

6.2L V8

The available 6.2L V8 features a single overhead cam valvetrain with dual-equal variable cam timing. The large bore (4.02 inches) allows for larger intake and exhaust valves for improved engine breathing, while the short stroke (3.74 inches) makes higher engine speed possible for increased horsepower.

The 6.2L has lightweight aluminum cylinder heads and pistons for efficiency and employs a cast-iron cylinder block for durability. There are other impressive specs. But the ones you’re no doubt most interested in are those you really feel: power ratings of 411 horsepower and 434 lb.-ft. of torque. And if you’re into towing for business or recreation, how does a maximum 11,300-lb. tow rating sound?*

The 6.2L V8 is optional in the F-150 XLT, FX2, FX4, LARIAT and Platinum; standard in the SVT Raptor.

Electronic 6-Speed Transmission with Tow/Haul Mode

The standard electronic 6-speed close-ratio transmission has a wide gear ratio for responsive low-end performance and enhanced fuel efficiency at the higher gears. The selectable tow/haul mode improves performance when towing or hauling heavy loads. It compensates for grade and load and reduces gear hunting, improving power delivery. Engine braking also helps slow the truck when descending hills.

SelectShift® Automatic Transmission

The available SelectShift® automatic has two modes of operation — Progressive Range Select or Full Manual.

(1) In Progressive Range Select, you can limit the range of gears while in Drive to lock out overdrive for consistent speed over hilly terrain. Tap down into Range Select mode and the display shows the available gears and highlights the one that’s in use. This feature lets you limit the use of upper gears when heavily loaded or while towing on grades.

(2) In Full Manual mode, you can go all the way up and down the gearbox to put you fully in control. The display will show the selected gear and the control system will lock the torque converter and hold that gear for a full manual transmission feel. The SelectShift automatic is available on XL, STX and XLT, and standard on all other models.

F-150 SVT Raptor

The most unforgiving terrain a truck can set its tires on – this is SVT Raptor territory. Crawling over hills of hard-rutted dirt or steep grades of nerve-jangling rock. Racing at high speeds over miles of brutal desert. For a conventional 4-wheeler, this kind of off-roading is totally off limits. For the SVT Raptor, it’s just another routine day of play.

  • Big-bore 6.2L SOHC V8 rated at 411 horsepower and 434 lb.-ft. of torque
  • FOX Racing Shox™
  • BF Goodrich® 35-inch all-terrain tires
  • 4.10 front axle with TORSEN® differential and 4.10 electronic-locking rear axle
  • 11.2 inches of front suspension travel and 12.1 inches of rear travel
  • Oversized heavy-duty skid plates
  • Available 17-inch bead-lock-capable forged-aluminum wheels

The SVT Raptor is available in SuperCab and SuperCrew® models and offers available front/rear cameras. The front view camera, mounted in the grille, is designed for use under 15 miles per hour while negotiating off-road obstacles.

INTERIOR - Toughness matched by comfort and quality.

Quiet Environment

The quiet environment inside the Ford F-150 owes much to the Ford 720-degree approach to noise reduction through sound engineering. Its stiff frame and body, shear-style body mounts, door seals, Quiet Steel® and a noise-absorbing headliner all work together to reduce unwanted noise and vibration.

Class-Exclusive Fully Flat Load Floor

No buttons to push or levers to pull inside the F-150 SuperCrew®. Simply use one hand to fold up the mechanically articulating rear seats against the back of the cab. Easily access the class-exclusive* fully flat load floor of a cargo compartment that provides 55.4 cu. ft. of usable storage space. The seat cushion folds up and out of the way, and the doors swing wide open to allow easy access to this large amount of space.

Rear View Camera

To aid you while you’re slowly backing up, the available rear view camera* mounted in the tailgate produces a large and bright real-time visual display in the interior rearview mirror. Or the visual is displayed on the available 8-inch LCD touch screen in vehicles equipped with this feature (shown). The camera can be a useful tool for hooking up a trailer or backing into a parking spot.

In-Cab Storage

The SuperCrew® provides a lot of places for storage throughout the interior, including large storage bins inside the door panels. There’s also an available lockable center console, equipped with rails for hanging files, that holds up to two laptop computers. And in the SuperCrew, you can easily fold up the 60/40 split rear seat to carry a large load of cargo (55.4 cu. ft.) on the fully flat load floor.

Safety Cage

The strength of the F-150 safety cage helped earn the F-150 SuperCrew® models a 2013 Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. For additional crash protection, the safety cage within the F-150 features advanced hydroformed high-strength steel. Furthermore, dual hydroformed front tubes, located on either side of the engine bay, are shaped to absorb impacts.

Personal Safety System™

The standard Personal Safety System™ uses the electronic crash-severity sensor, a restraint-control module, a driver’s seat position sensor, dual-stage front airbags,* Front Passenger Sensing System, safety belt pretensioners, safety belt energy management retractors and front outboard safety belt usage sensors to help protect the driver and front seat passenger.

SuperCrew® Rear Seat

F-150 SuperCrew® comes with a 60/40 rear split bench seat. This seat shows its versatility in three ways. Fold up the 40-side seat cushion when you need to carry extra cargo and also seat two passengers. The 60-side cushion when folded up provides even more space for cargo and still provides room for a passenger. Of course, you can fold them both up and take advantage of all the cargo space available behind the front seats. King Ranch® interior is shown.
